Moved at last, we have been 'stuck' at Hartshorn for six or seven weeks, partly due to the weather and partly due to my medical needs for the lumpy legs at the George Elliott hospital.
Chased up the results of the bowel cancer test, all OK, clear.
Finished the door and drawer for cabinet. Started the next unit, well designed it in my head.
Organised a 'sort of' appointment with the audiologist tomorrow. Bottled the ginger beer I have been making. Took BP readings.
Had a hearing aid fitting at the audiologist at Nuneaton.
Good progress on the double kitchen cabinet, some progress on the seat for the cruiser stern. BP readings
Nine locks doesn't sound too bad, but as we are working two boats I actually worked 18 locks.
Worked out how to join three large pieces of wood together invisibly.
Worked Dennis down the flight - about two hours after emptying the loos and getting rid of rubbish. I felt so good about it I went back for Iowner. Emptied the loo, got rid of my rubbish. Took about two hours to do the flight. One way and another I had help with seven of the nine locks which made quite a difference.
Stalled on the kitchen cabinets.
Did a puzzle, Port Issac's, where Doc Martin and Saving Grace were made.
Painted floor under sink.
Started cutlery tray for the drawer. Rubbish bin won't fit door, won't close. Might have to make a 'flour bin' cupboard door for it. Glued the sides of the double base unit. Fun with water pump not switching off.
Chased Warwick Council regarding fuel payment, line busy , waited 30 minutes, line busy. Legal aid number only manned from nine to one, didn't get on the line to them till two.
My No2 went shopping in Atherstone a mile away. I glued the cabinet together. Did a bit more on the cutlery tray.
My adjustable cramps are not working too well. Enlarged the grooves that are meant to hold the clamps in position under stress with the angle grinder mounted in the stand I purchased for it. About 80 grooves altogether.
Rang Dave Tomkinson regrading the overstay, ll cleared up.
Got the £90 voucher from Warwickshire County Council to be redeemed at Tesco.
Too late fro the CPS again (Citizens Advice Bureau).
Finished the kitchen cabinet carcass, just the doors and drawers to finish when I get some more wood.
Trip into Nuneaton to get some timber. Tesco couldn't wouldn't convert my voucher into gift vouchers.
Found the Congerstone gardeners stall again and purchased our vegetables from him.
Nearly finished the cutlery tray. Snow started to settle at about half six, by bed time there was at least six inches of snow on the tow path.
Blanket of snow everywhere. Made both door and drawers for the double base unit. Cutlery tray nearly finished.
A bit of sanding and made some handles.
Th snow has nearly disappeared, washed away by rain by tea time.
Checked out the pump and adjusted the pressure switch. Moved the hanging kitchen utensil rack, curtain poles and light. Finished the cutlery tray, doors and drawers, they all just need a coat of varnish. One of the door catches had to be re positioned as there was a knot in the place where I wanted to put it.
Rang CPW, I am not entitled to legal aid.
Paid boat license, paid boat insurance.
Varnished cabinets, doors drawers and shelves(twice). Spent ages getting a catch to work properly. Shopping in Atherstone, got a potentially perfect rubbish bin for under the sink.
Fitted lights in kitchen cabinet, started drawer handles. Looked at 'Kitty Castle'.
Fitted new rubbish bin, perfect.
Made four door handles. Started 'Kitty Castle' ripped some second hand timber down to size.
Put handles on drawers. Finished Kitty Castle.
Had a telephone conversation with Jim Harrington, a local councillor who will pass my request on to the local MP. (This is regarding the universal payment that everybody got to help them through Covid except continuous cruisers).
Cut down the partition between the galley and the lounge. Re-adjusted my cruising seat.
Nothing to do, or make, or research. Thought about doing a puzzle but I have done them all recently.
Cleaned, sorted my Workmate boxes. Sorted the wood turning chisels and made a jig to sharpen them.
My No2 got her bus pass so we went shopping in Nuneaton for vegetables. Did some preparation to make another stool.
Started a stool. Refined the bench grinder jig to hold the grinder for both the wet stone and the dry stone (both of which I have dressed with the diamond dresser I purchased a few months [years] ago).
Trip to Atherstone where I bought three new jigsaw puzzles.
Got the power drill (mains) out and drilled the holes for the legs of the new stool, planed the stringers.
Can't do anything with the gennie till I have figured out where the bolts have come from, to of them have (presumably) dropped off, vibrated out of the gennie.
Filled up with water, got rid of rubbish, emptied loos. The vehicle that emptied the rubbish bins had a registration of RE51 KLE, which easily reads as Recycle.
Got the gennie out and checked for loose and missing bolts. Could not find anything wrong so I guess the bolts I found were from where I 'extended' the fuel tank.
Took Dennis for a cruise, will go back for Iowner tomorrow. Got caught in the rain twice. The RCR guy that we called out identified the problem as a fuel blockage in one of the filters, so changed all three. Plain sailing from then on.
Stopped off at Narrowcraft Limited, the company that built Dennis (although it was called Dreamcatcher at the time) for some fuel. My No2 insisted on changing the name to something a little less 'common' at the first opportunity.
Gravenor not allowed to sell to boats at this location as it would affect the boatyard sales.
Narrowcraft Ltd
1 by 13kg Calor gas £45.50
10 bags Briteflame Smokeless fuel 20kg £170.00

Dennis.
This time with Iowner.
Got a taxi to Tamworth to get the bus to Polesworth. Google lied again, no busses on Sunday, so we got another taxi to Polesworth. Picked up Iowner and cruised to Hopwas in time for an afternoon of football.
Trip into Tamworth for some steel and some shopping, I think I will try Lichfield in future as I am not keen on Tamworth.
Cannot pay for a gift card with a gift card. Took nearly ten minutes to get my gift card to come up on my phone - the sales assistant got the idea as to why I wanted a plastic card instead of a digital one. Forgot my password for my club card. Actually put in the wrong user email, so I had to go home to get the password. Got to the bus station and clicked. Back to Tesco for the shopping.
Finished making the solar panel extenders and gave them two coats of paint.
Fitted the 'risers' for one side of the solar panels - got the countersinks on the wrong side.
Took the Zero Wine back to Tesco, got a refund. Purchased eight boxes of tissues for 71 pence each. Watched Boris obfuscating.
Up early to turn the boat around so I can do the risers on the other side of the boat, back by 7:45 am. Washed the galley floor, could do with another coat of paint, but otherwise works well. Bus into town, Iceland, Tesco and a wander around. Back by midday. Fitted the risers for the other side of the solar panels. Turned the boat around again, back by five pm.
Quick trip into Lichfield fro fresh vegetables for the weekend.
Replaced the solar panel risers on the starboard side as I managed to get the countersinks on the wrong side. There is lots of room now for storage boxes under the solar panels, I think I will call this my attic.
Need some 10mm plastic tube for the 12 volt pump to empty the bilges.
Took Dennis to Fradley, pleasant enough journey but a bit chilly in the wind.
Scrabble Day.
Bus to Lichfield, no wait for the connection to Hopwas. Good travelling weather.
Made a miniature router table using the dremel lookalike as the router. Used it to fashion the legs for a spider. Made a spider.
Took Dennis to Shadehouse Lock. Filled up at the water point, carried the loos to the facilities.
Back at Iowner I trimmed the seat for cruising and vacuumed throughout.
Noticed that the wheels are getting rusty so wire brushed them and gave them a coat of paint, needs another coat for good obliteration. Played Warcraft III all afternoon.
Several more coats of Hammerite on the wheels, enough to keep me happy as they are going on the roof.
Started on a new sound absorbing base for the gennie. I will either crack the noise problem or succumb to a petrol gennie that I really do not want. Carting petrol around all the time is a pain, unsafe and unnecessary.
