Always a good place to spend soome time. This year we noticed for the first time that the ducks were diving to the bottom of the canal and coming up with what looked or all the world like black olives and once back up to the surface they swallowed them. I've never seen (or maybe noticed) this behaviour before.
In the height of the summer we rarely travel more than a couple of miles, or if we are lucky, a couple of hours, due to the heat. Start early, finish early, hide in the shade or the rest of the day.
In the winter we rarely travel more than a couple of miles, or if we are lucky, a couple of hours, due to the weather being too cold. Wait for the sun to come up and take the ice and mist away, travel, moor up before it starts getting cold(er) again.
Topped up with water at Gnosall and did a little fresh veg shopping.
We were moored fairly close to the winding hole so got a great view of some historic boats being winded, including Saturn, a historic 1906 wooden Shropshire Union "fly-boat" that I have often seen around the system. My first contact with Saturn was on my very first trip from Wheaton Aston when I was accompanied by Roy and Sue. Sue often travelled with Saturn at that time.
It was the commotion of the horse drawn narrow boat being winded that attracted my attention but I was unfortunately too late to get any pictures of that happening. The horses stood by and watched the whole while.
This is where I got chatting to one of the other boaters and donated some solar panel stuff that I no longer needed after my solar refit.
Needed a day to prepare for the Tyerly Locks leading down to Market Drayton.
I thought that my Mac Mini had given ip the ghost so I purchased another from ebay. When it arrivre =d the power cable for the powwer supply was the wrong sort. Now I have to arrange for a replacement power lead.
I turned out after all that the Mac Mini was fine, it was the video connector that was kaput, so now I have two Mac Minis on board.
Mac Mini update.
In to Market Drayton, famous (or infamous) for having a Spare Body Parts shop right next to the Funeral Parlour.
It is a bit of a trek into town but all the shops I could ever want are there for food shopping
The start of a long conversation with Hoover about my vacuum cleaner. I had purchased a hHoover as they had a reputation of producing quality products. Mine develped a fault in that it stopped picking up dust, like what it should do. Close examination revealed that the hose had developed a split reducing suction to zero.
