Took the train ti Rugby to collect my mail and poll card ready for voting.

Tuesday 4th April 2023

Bus to Great Haywood, the post office there does POSTE RESTANTE. Anglo Welsh will take parcels for me. Got both boats booked in for service 18th April. Will charge me £40 per week to store Iowner while we do the Wyrley and Essington in Dennis.;

Wednesday 5th April 2023 Rugeley

Exhaust wrap arrived. Ordered more spot lights. Purchased more Golden Hen (at 75 pence per bottle an offer too good to miss). Organised a replacement Carbon Monoxide alarm under warrenty. Rained for most of the day.

Thursday 6th April 2023

Broke my Worx circular saw. Ordered the Einhell equivalent, due for delivery tomorrow.
Offered my stools to a Reclaimed Artifacts store, they didn't want them but suggested Calairs Emporium. They didn't want them either.

Friday 7th April 2023

Bus to Great Haywood. Post office closed today but got three parcels from Anglo Welsh.
The Next Day Delivery of my circular saw did not arrive at Toolstation.
Fittted four spot lights.

Saturday 8th April 2023 Brindley Bank Aqueduct, 1 mile butter.upper.horns

Long walk to Toolstation and Aldi.
A gap appeared at the aqueduct when Campanula (a woman we first met at Upper Hyford) and Cousin Jack moved off, so we took their vacated moorings.

Sunday 9th April 2023

Fitted sound insulation to the gennie cupboard, seems to be working. Fitted Z hinges to the two remaining solar panels on Dennis.

Monday 10th April 2023

Cleaned and wire brushed the foredeck. Scraped a lot of the roof. Found a space on the roof for the diesel cans. Bolted the cross bars on the roof down properly.

Tuesday 11th April 2023

Treated the foredeck with Owatrol. Collected new circular saw. Made progess with the gennie sound ducts. Researched mini table saw, mini router, mini drill stand. Found piller drill at a good price, will try nd purchase one tomorrow.

Wednesday 12th April 2023

Purchased pillar drill, cost £70, reduced from £d;170. Ordered machine vice.
Glued sound absorbing mat in gennie enclosure, twice.

Thursday 13th April 2023 Rugeley

Collected packges from Great Haywood Post Office and Anglo Welsh, then shopping in Rugeley.
Fitted handles to solar panel. The power lead for the Pure Radio works, so now I have a bedside alarm/clock radio.

Used the mini pump to empty the bilge on Dennis, my No2 finished off with a sponge, all in preparation for the upcoming service.
Finished putting baffles in the baffle duct, just need to put the top on.
Sorted River and Canal Rescue subscription so now we are both covered.

Saturday 15th April 2023 Tixall Wide, 5 miles 2 locks director.calls.operation

Took Dennis to Tixall Wide, caught the bus back for Iowner. Dennis was in a queue for Colwith Lock for an hour or so, Iowner sailed through without any sort of hold up. Sorted out the water and rubbish for both boats, emptied the loo for Iowner. Getting redy for service on Tuesday.

Investigted silent diesel gennies (Warrior) and enlarging gennie space, it's possible by building fore cabin in the front of the boat above the wter tank.

Monday 17th April 2023

Turned both boats around in preparatino for tomorrows trip to Anglo Welsh fro serviceing at nine in the morning. Spent the rest of the day preparing for our trip to the Wyrley and Essington.

Tuesday 18th April 2023 Radnor, 5 miles 1 lock exit.woof.trader

Dipped diesel, sixteen and a half inches.
Anglo Welsh, serviced both boats, replaced the two leisure batteries for the fridge on Iowner. Left Iowner with Anglo Welsh for them to do the fabrication for the gennie enclosure.
Sold the electric outboard motor I have been carrying around since we left the Ashby.
Our holiday has started.

Penkridge market this morning, two new waistcoats, three half cheeses. My No2 got two new dresses and a Dennis Tee shirt.

Used the facilities at Gailey before we set off. Shopping at Morrisons at Autherly for basics, collected prescription.

Took the opportunity to visit Wolverhampton and investigate the shopping opportunities.Although I tried hard to spend some money the only item that appealed to me was a fleece that had No logos, No advertising, in fact No decoration of any kind. Not only that it was a measly £6.50

Tuesday 25th April 2023 Pool Hayes Bridge, 6.5 miles 21 locks single.flight.overnight

Rubbish in the propellor so needed de-weeding and removal of plastic bags.
Somehow these 21 locks are surprisingly easy, I suppose it is because each lock is not very deep and they are all close together so once in a rhythm it all goes smoothly.

Investigated the local area for moorings - looks good, especially along the little arm into Holly Bank Basin.
Caught the bus into Wallsall - it is new, pristine, clean which should make it a pleasure to visit but I found it ninviting, uninteresting, no character. Might have been a better experience if the market was open.
