Wednesday 5th November 2025 Swanley Bridge, weeds.supply.spit 2.25 miles 1 lock

Batteries ordered, being sent to Robert. Getting excited about eventually having Lithium Phosphate batteries that I have been working on for about 5 years now.

Thursday 6th November 2025 Swanley No1 Lock, cookbooks.demand.spearing 0.25 miles 1 lock

Batteries delivered. Problem, Fogstar has delivered one 280 and one 230, great start. Contacted Fogstar and they suggested that I could keep the wrong battery and they would refund the difference.
Having checked the manual thoroughly I CANNOT connect these two batteries in parallel. Also I have found that I can't talk to the batteries with my cell phone. Their App is not available for my Chromebook, so cannot use that.
After a lot of faffing about and several emails and I managed to organise a collection and delivery from the bridge which will hopefully happen on Monday.

Tuesday 11th November 2025

Wrong battery collected, correct battery delivered. Started the pre-installation process. I need to get them both charged up to the same voltage within 0.05 volts according to the manual.

Wednesday 12th November 2025

Got up this morning and on my way to Iowner the boat looked a bit different. Got on board and found that my water pump was running and that overnight a pipe had become disconnected and all the water that should be in my tank was now in my bedroom, about two inches deep at the back door. Jury rigged a small pump and started the long process of getting rid of all this water. By the end of the day it was down to just an inch of water under the floorboards right at the back of the boat. Robert kindly lent me a de-humidifier so over the course of the next few days I managed to get the boat dry. I also fixed the disconnected water pipe connection and made sure that it could NEVER happen again.

Totally exasperated with the batteries, the customer support giving me conflicting information, giving me information the distinctly contradicts their manual I have given up on the idea of LiFePO4 batteries and requested that they be collected and I should get a refund.
The gentleman in the house opposite to us offered to let me use their external hose to re-fill my water tank, such a nice gesture which I gratefully accepted.

Monday 17th November 2025

Gradually getting back to some sort of normality. Carpets up, floorboards dry, carpets rotated and dried out. Carpets relaid. I little computer fan installed in the floor inside the step box to draw air from under the floor hopefully drying out the bilges completely in time. As the fan takes so little current I can leave it on permanently.
Ordered a little 12 volt timer that can be set to be on for 60 seconds when the button is pressed. The idea is that if there is a water pipe burst or break or other form of disconnection the water can only be pumped for 60 seconds, thereby preventing a total flood.

Sunday 23rd November 2025 Dusty Miller, confirms.synthetic.motorist 3 miles 3 locks 2 lift bridges

We had intended to go further than this, if only to get away from the church that chimes the hour and quarters all day and all night. I think it is a really good idea to keep up that age old tradition of timekeeping for the whole village but then because I am a little hard of hearing it doesn't disturb me of a night time and I expect if you lived here all the time you would get used to it but for occasional visitors it could be a bit of a problem, as it is for my No2.
Anyway, the lure of fish and chips at the local pub was just too much so stop off we did. As it turned out they were not as good as I had hoped for and at £20.00 a meal I could have done much better myself. In fact for £20 I could have had several practice runs to get it perfect.

Monday 24th November 2025 Marches Way, Grindley Brook, scariest.retrial.initiated 6 miles 4 locks

We like mooring below the flight for a few days. Shopping is not too onerous as it is only a short walk, three quarters of a mile, to the bus stop for busses into Whitchurch and one of the houses along the tow path puts out windfalls for boaters and others to take free of charge, and they are nice apples.

Tuesday 25th November 2025 Grindley Brook Water point, pancake.fruity.mange 1 mile 6 locks (staircase of three)

Up the flight and along to the water point, having stopped just long enough at the rubbish and elsan disposal to rid the boat of unwanted artefacts. Filled up with water and moved past the restricted mooring area to a fourteen day section.
