Just because we can, we only travel for a couple of hours a day (especially at this time of year) so moored up in a nice remote place with good views and not too near to any noisy roads or railways for a few days. We use the weather to our advantage in that fresh fruit and vegetables last longer so I can stock up without having to worry about shopping every day or every other day for fresh stuff.
Stopped off short of Wrenbury proper as the church bells sound the quarters and hours all day long and all night. Nice that it still happens in some places but if you are not used to it it can become a bit of a disruption to normal daily life.
ASDA Delivery, I use the supermarkets for bulky items, typically 4 x 24 cans fizzy drinks, 18 or 24 x 1Lt semi-skimmed milk, 4 x 1.5 kg wholemeal flour. All stuff that will last a good few months and much too heavy for me to carry back to the boat from the bus stop or wherever the supermarket happens to be. While they are delivering the heavy stuff I try to add other items like eggs, fruit and veg (although I do prefer to choose my own as the 'picker' doesn't always have my values regarding quality). Talking about the 'picker' this one must have sorted through as many red cabbages as they could find and they turned up with the smallest red cabbage I have ever seen, I know I would not have chosen this one.
I returned several items, typically they substituted Pepsi for Coca Cola. As Pepsi are still trading in Russia, supporting Putin's war with Ukraine I do my best not to purchase Pepsi products. And, of course, sometimes they just don't have a product, in this case the quantity of semi-skimmed milk I wanted.

Filled up with water at the boat yard in Wrenbury as we passed, I generally take advantage of water points as running out of water could be problem in the remote areas that we prefer to moor at.
Tesco delivery, because ASDA didn't have everything I wanted I did a top-up delivery so as to complete the shopping.
Moored close to Steer Bridge which goes over the canal between Marbury and Norbury. For great lengths of the Llangollen canal there is a tiny stream that runs alongside the canal, sometimes on one side, sometimes on the opposite side and sometimes there is a stream running along both sides. Here it is Steer Brook that runs alongside the canal.
Just short of Grindly Brook. I have decided that I AM going to paint Iowner. I have been putting it off for as long as I can remember because the thought of taking out 5 windows, preparing 55ft by 5ft of steel work, giving it all two coats of primer, two coats of undercoat and two coats of topcoat, and replacing the window before the weather turns, is just so daunting that it's not going to happen. The way to do it is take out ONE window, do the preparation and the painting and replace the window using a proper sealant. Job done and manageable.
Spent a couple of days getting everything together, paint, scrapers, brushes, white spirit, grinder, sander, sandpaper, newspapers (for cleaning up and protecting vulnerable areas) masking tape and last but by no means least myself.
Started off at the rear of the boat on the starboard side.
And on top of all that, the coal boat arrived. We only needed 4 bags of coal this time as the weather has been so much milder and because I have been working outside it seemed silly to heat my boat. One bottle of gas and diesel for both boats.
165 Lts diesel £166.65
1 by 13kg Calor gas £44.50
4 bags Excel 25kg £60.00
