Mon 3rd February 2025

Fuel boat Lindsay arrived today, made good use of them and topped up with coal (18 x 20 kg) and diesel (60 Lt). 18 bags coal for 4 weeks between us isn't bad, 9 bags each, just over two a week, £30 a week to keep the boat warm and toastie all day and all night.

Sun 9th February 2025 Calveley, hostels.draw.novelists 4 ,miles

Becoming a sort of home base as far as facilities go, not surprising as thy are the only ones for quite a way. The facilities at Nantwich are OK but having used them there is a fair old journey to turn around again unless we wanted to negotiate a whole bunch of locks to get to the next facilities.

Mon 10th February 2026 Cholmondeston Lock, forget.sage.emeralds 3 miles

Moored above Cholmondeston lock and close to the winding hole so that we can decide whether to go on or back.

Thur 13th February 2025 Church Minshull, lollipop.indeed.split 2 miles 2 locks

Decided to go onwards, we do like this spot to moor at and it is sort of convenient if Thirle wants to come and visit for a day or two.
Thirle is one of my No2's elder sisters and the one with whom she has the most rapport. She (Thirle) was diagnosed with cancer a while ago and has expressed a desire to visit if she feels well enough, hence the choice of mooring. Accommodation in the village, pleasant setting, nice walks.

Tue 25th February 20206 Calveley, visions.riches.lotteries 4 miles (2 locks)

Thirle couldn't make it in the end and we needed to use the facilities so here we are again.
I have been considering replacing all those horrible carpet tiles in the lounge with a proper carpet (as I have done in the bedroom) and while at the facilities I noticed a whole bunch of carpet underlay strips, each about 6ft x 1ft and a quick calculation revealed that there were enough to cover the whole of my lounge floor and a bit, so, hey ho, they were promptly stored in my 'attic' on the roof. I call the space under the solar panels my attic as it is a convenient place to store stuff that is covered and on the roof of the boat.

Thur 27th February 2025 Hurlston Bridge, airtime.dragons.conductor 1 mile 4 locks

Heading towards Llangollen, negotiated the Hurlston flight and moored up just above the lock mooring bollards.

Fri 28th February 2025 Martin's Bridge 400yards'

Moved along a bit so as not to block the moorings just above the Hurlston flight as the area there is reserved for people using and waiting to use the flight, mind you, at this time of year that doesn't amount to very many boats.
