I have often noticed these moorings but it has always been crowded whenever we have been in the area before but this time it is almost empty, so here we are. Convenient for getting in to Whitchurch proper, either by bus from Chemistry or walking over the hill, my No2's preferred route. Since it is on the opposite side of the canal to the tow path there is very little foot traffic and no bicycles at all. Not only that it's good for a couple of weeks.
Standing at the bus stop this pheasant wandered past me and walked along the road to someones garden. Apparently it has been doing this for several months.
Another of my trips into Whitchurch. Just for a change I decided to walk into town from Chemistry as it is rural and off the roadway. The route takes you past the Church and as the doors were open (unusual nowadays) I popped in for a look around. The stained galls windows are spectacular.
Our two weeks are up so off to pastures new, this time to Bettisfield a location that enjoys access to the wetlands and the wild life that abounds there. My No2 will spend hours wandering around with her binoculars spotting this and that, often making notes and frequently getting quite excited about what she has seen.
How lucky are we. Today, well, overnight the place where we had been moored just a week ago has disappeared! Slipped into the field below leaving several boats stranded at the bottom of a gaping hole. I was moored where the boat that is perched on the edge is and my No2 was moored right behind me, just in front of where Sefton is now.
