Mon 17th August 2015

Got a four days out of eight railway ticket. First day is a trip to the Ffestiniog Railway via Tanybwlch.
my No. 2 unfortunately got a bit carried away with the excitment of it all and left her rucksack on the train when we changed trains.
The intention had been for my No. 2 to go swimming at Barmouth but with no costume or towels that could have proven a little difficult, but when we got there the charity shops rose to the challenge.
Purchased a new rucksack, swimming costume, towels and even a bathing cap to keep her hair dry whilst in the water. my No. 2 enjoyed her swimming until D'fer decided to join in and swam out to where she was and then tried to climb on to her, inadvertantly scratching her with his claws.

Day out to Ffestiniog Railway.
Thur 20th August 2015

Day two of our four from eight, this time to Llandudno. We took the Great Orme Tramway right to the top of the hill. It's a cable tramway where the tram is pulled up the hill by a winding gear, helped by the weight of the tram coming down the hill to balance it.
Most of the way it is single track but there is a passing place for the upgoing tram to avoid the downgoing tram halfway up (or down as the case may be).
Llandudno has two beaches, North Beach and South Beach, which does not allow dogs. Walking from South Beach to North Beach we spotted a pet shop and where we managed to get a set of booties for D'fer to protect my No. 2 from his claws when he tries to rescue her from the water. We got to North Beach where my No. 2 went swimming. D'fer wanted to join in again and with the booties on he joined my No. 2 in the water. THe booties didn't work very well so I will just have to keep him out of the water when she is swimming in future.
There were several wind surfers on the water and one of them was managing some aerobatics whilst surfing. I think the wind was quite strong out there.

Fri 21st August 2015 12 miles 10 locks Ellesmere Port

Took most of the day to get here, including a pause at the staircase lock to offload mattress from the fold up bed on Forty Two that I have replaced with a pull out bed, but spent several hours on the quay watching the big boats coming along the Manchester Ship Canal.
If you get your narrow boat registered on the Manchester Ship Canal it is regarded as a ship and the master of a ship is entitled to have a fire arm on board, however it cannot be used inside the three mile limit.
