Took a trip to the top of Bosley Locks to get rid of the backlog rubbish, chilly and windy all the way there and back.
Wee small hours of the morning and I have had a few, well, more than a few, but this is the first time for a long time that I have heard silence. My tinnitus is constantly there whistling away, humming and singing, sometimes it is almost a tune. But right now, nothing, complete silence, it's bliss. Collected the workbench that I ordered along with the fan belt. Assembled the workbench, I like it. Macclesfield played Braintree and won 3-1. Good match.Tidied and vacuumed the boat. Nice sunny afternoon.
Got dog food. Repaired engine cover board, it was fraying at the edges and corners. Tried splitting a log into boards - not very successful, I think I need some proper wedges.
Motored along to Buxton Road Bridge. Stopped on the way for a few scraps of timber. Investigated busses to and from various destinations. Keyed bench in to wall and made a drill bit holder.
A little reading, a little shopping a shower.
Called in at Bollington Boats to ask if they could replace my wooden fore deck with a steel one. Hey did it there and then and threw in an anvil -all for £160. Stayed overnight.
Walked along to the aqueduct to make sure there is room. Yes, so motored along and then collected some wood from the offside moorings which are no longer used. Split some logs.
Wire brushed the fore deck and treated it with Owatrol. Checked out the post office. Went into Macclesfield for fruit.
Got filler and tried to make the fore deck smooth, a job I am not very good at.
Post still not arrived.
Post still not arrived. Need the facilities so off to Marple.
4 mile round trip. Into Marple, water, elsan, rubbish.
Went to Stockport today and out to Bollington, collected mail. Nothing of interest in Stockport really. In Marple I purchased a 6ft x 4 ft tarpaulin, now I need a tarpaulin hole kit and some ball bungees.
Bus into Marple and out again (1½ hours). A little shopping, ordered a rebate plane.
Had to go into Stockport today to get my phone sorted. It was having an identity crisis. It thought it had the SIM card from the tablet in it, but still answered to the correct number. EE were successful although when they reset it to factory settings they lost all my apps and the ring-tone, took me all evening to sort it out. Dave replaced the lift pump on the engine with an electric one so I shouldn't have any problems bleeding the diesel system in the future.
Filled up with water and got rid of the rubbish and sprained my ankle in the process, painful.
Stayed in bed all day.
Had a long chat to a guy who has just worked his way along the Huddersfield Narrow. He tells me it was very heavy going as last Winters floods had washed loads of silt into the canal and made it shallow in all sorts of places that should not have been shallow and it has still not recovered.
Walked into Whaley Bridge to the blacksmiths. Ordered a couple of loop things for the gunwales so that I can strap Olive to Forty Two properly when we breast against each other. Should be ready by Monday or Tuesday.
Made a handle for my travelling companion's dustpan, finished the first shelf for my travelling companion's bookshelves and cut some metal for the hotplate skirt.
Moved to Furness Vale for the TV signal - Everton vs Manchester United 1-2, snooker and MOTD later. Put up table in the cratch, need to find away to lock it.
Finished bookshelves. Made two tool rolls for the spanners out of old leather jeans.
Collected the side rope fixings from the blacksmiths. Fitted the shelves for my travelling companion.
Made the shirt for the hot plate on the stove.
Snow
Snow. Changed gas bottle.
Watched Snooker all day.
