From Great Haywood I continued on to Pekridge, stopping off briefly at Tixall Wide, where I did the market and purchased three big steel wedges just in case I find a big log to split.
One day I will remember to take my camera in to town to get a picture of the gaol.

Cut 6 foot off the 60 ft tree.
Someone had already cut off bits.

Cut a log, 6 ft long by 2 ft diameter pine, off the end of a fallen tree some 70 foot long (high).

Tried splitting the log with wedges, the three steel ones I got in Penkridge and four wooden ones. Did not work. I ended up having to cut the log into quarters to get my wedges back. Loaded them on to theboat and cruised until I could find somewhere to offload them and turn them into boards with the Alaskan saw mill.

Stopped oof at Gnosall for petrol for the chainsaw. I had used it all up getting my wedges bakc and then sawing the quarters into planks.
Contacted Barney and organised that he come out and fit the inverter charger that I have purchased along with the split charger and battery isolator. He is due to arrive on the 1st May. While he is here he is going to remodel the handles on the gennie so it fits under the hatch at the front.
