One of the logs we picked up at Wheaton Aston. I decided that it was time to try and split it. Stood it up on the tow path and got my wedges and lump hammer out.
As the wedges go in it sounds like ice cracking on the canal as the boat passes over.
At one point I was worried that I would not have enough wedges and I would have to cut them out with the chainsaw but in the end it split quite nicely. I'm still looking at how to make use of the two pieces, weather to split them further (although the one with the knot in it could be very difficult to split) or use them as is.
