Although I tried the lathe at Abingdon I didn't really get to grips with it. All the wood we collected on the way here will come in useful as I will probably waste most of it experimenting.
At Abingdon I set it up on the tow path with a frame to support the pole and a big lump of wood to anchor the end to the ground. Here I have used the rail on the boat as the anchor and lump of wood on the roof as the support leaving the business end of the pole hanging over the tow path far enough away from the boat to be workable.
As usual D'fer has to get involved with everything I do and insists on bringing me pieces of wood, many of which are reserved for future projects and, of course, a pile of shavings makes an ideal bed resulting in him carrying half the pile into the boat where he has a really good shake.
One of the first projects is a bar stool to replace the MDF ones purchased with the MDF table as all the joints are working loose.
